Charges vs Convictions
A charge is an accusation filed in court. A conviction is the result of a guilty plea, guilty finding, or verdict that establishes legal responsibility for the offense. Sealed and Expunged Records
Some Bladen County criminal court records are restricted. Juvenile records are confidential under North Carolina law. Criminal Background Check Limits
The Judicial Branch court-records help topic warns that background checks should use the county clerk's office rather than Portal. Portal results are public case information, not a complete statewide criminal-history report and not a consumer report. For state prison, probation, and parole status, use the N.C. Department of Adult Correction offender search. For jail custody, use the Bladen County Sheriff's Office app or detention contact channels.
